Rock'n August is an international car show and music festival taking place in St. Albert, Alberta - a suburb of Edmonton. This year the event will take place from Tuesday, August the 3rd through Saturday the 7th. Past events have seen well over 500 classic car entries into the event and more than 50,000 people attending altogether, making Rock'n August one of the largest events to take place in the province of Alberta. 2010 plans to be another huge year with at least as many people estimated to attend as 2009. Visitors to Rock'n August not only come from our home province of Alberta, but also British Columbia and Saskatchewan, and even Washington, Idaho and Montana - truly making Rock'n August an international car show.

A week of fun

Five days of activities begin early Tuesday morning at the St. Albert Inn when Citytv kicks off Rock'n August with the Breakfast Television. Many of the classics that will be competing in Saturday's Show'n Shine competition will be at this event. Each evening until Friday Night's Cruise and Street Dance, a different location in St. Albert hosts an evening of classic car shows, community barbecues and musical entertainment.

A great family event returning to the RNA week compliments to four sponsorships of DKC Sparklean Group, Servus Credit Union Place and Servus Credit Union. They have teamed up to host the second annual Rock'n August "Night at the Drive-In". We’re bringing in a huge blow up screen over 3 stories high with radio broadcast sound and will be set up at the Servus Place west parking lot for a drive-in showing of the classic, American Graffiti! A donation to ADF of $10.00 per car is your ticket in to what promises to be a huge night for RNA. Hotdogs, popcorn and pop will be available. to ensure a whole new generation will be able to experience the drive-in as it used to be.

Saturday August 7th, 6:00pm-Close. A Dinner, Dance and Silent Auction will wrap up the week of events. The theme for the night will be dress in your best 50's or 60's clothing or just come as you are for all the fun that you can remember of these fun and simple days.Saturday nights entertainment will be "The Larados". Tickets for this night will be $50 & will be on sale at the St. Albert Chamber of Commerce & available from the Rock’n August Information tents at the St. Albert Farmers Market starting July 17th, and the information tent at the Gold Dust Casino "Classic Car Tuesday’s".

The primary goal of Rock'n August is to continue to be a significant contributor to diabetes research and education. The Alberta Diabetes Institute at the University of Alberta has set the international benchmark for treatment of diabetes with Islet Cell Transplantation. Rock'n August will make every effort to bring $125,000 to the doctors and researchers who specialize in this disease that will affect one in four Canadians in the next three to four years. All funds raised by Rock'n August remain within the province of Alberta. We are very pleased to report that the 2009 Edition of Rock'n August was a record-setting success. The committee consisting of The St.Albert Cruisers Car Club, Cosmopolitan Clubs of Edmonton, St. Albert, Sturgeon and the St. Albert Chamber of Commerce worked countless hours to ensure the success of this year's classic car show fund raiser for the Alberta Diabetes Foundation. It is truly a community event when many come together as one to succeed. As we look forward to the 14th annual Rock'n August in 2010 (mark your calendars now for August 3-7-2010), we face new challenges of accommodating everyone who wishes to participate in this event. Planning has already started and we will make the 14th Rock 'n August the best ever.
